Privacy Policy

Kuumba, LLC (“Kuumba,” “we,” “us”) operates kuumbapro.org and the Joy Up™ mobile application. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

The short version: we collect as little as we can. We do not sell your information. Your reflections and journal entries in the app stay on your device unless you explicitly choose otherwise.

What we collect

When you give it to us

• Your email address, if you request the free guide or join the app waitlist.
• What you send us, if you email or use a contact or inquiry form. That includes your name, your organization, and anything else you choose to write.
• Booking details, if you schedule a discovery call. Your name, email, the time you picked, and what you tell us about your organization.

Collected automatically on the website

• Standard server and analytics data: pages viewed, approximate region, browser and device type, referring site, and the date and time.
• Cookies and similar technologies used by our website platform to keep the site working and to measure traffic.

In the Joy Up app

• Your reflections, notes, and practice history are stored on your device. We do not upload them, we cannot read them, and they are not part of any analytics.
• If you create an account or subscribe, we process the minimum needed to deliver that: an identifier, and purchase status from Apple or Google. Payment card details go to the app store, never to us.
• Anonymous, aggregated usage counts, for example how many people completed a reset, with no content and nothing that identifies you.

What we do with it

• Send you the guide you asked for, and the follow-up emails you signed up for.
• Answer your inquiry and schedule or deliver work you have asked about.
• Operate, secure, and improve the site and the app.
• Meet legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Who we share it with

Only service providers who need it to do their job for us, and only for that purpose:

• Our website and booking platform
• Our email service provider, for the guide and the newsletter
• Apple and Google, for app distribution and purchases

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Kuumba, LLC or others.

Email

If you sign up, you get one email a week: one principle, one question, one practice. Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. Unsubscribing does not affect anything else you have with us.

How long we keep it

Email addresses stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Inquiry and booking records are kept as long as needed for the engagement and for our records afterward. On-device app data lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you
• Correct it
• Delete it
• Stop emailing you

Email hhinton@kuumballc.org and we will respond. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. The same email address is how you exercise them.

Children

This site and the Joy Up app are intended for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, and we keep the amount we hold small on purpose, because the safest data is the data nobody collected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Where we operate

Kuumba, LLC is based in the United States, and the site and app are intended for users in the United States. If you access them from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on this page.
